A fire incident early Thursday morning in Keene resulted in significant damage to a residence on Meadow Road, with losses estimated at $25,000. The local fire department reported the situation later that day.
Firefighters responded promptly to the emergency at 99 Meadow Road just after 10 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered flames engulfing the attic of the home. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the firefighters or occupants, and although pets were initially unaccounted for, authorities were optimistic about their safe recovery.
The majority of the destruction was localized to the attic, yet smoke and water compromised additional areas within the property. Four individuals were temporarily forced from their home due to the incident, with Kevin M. Smith identified as the owner of the house.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing as of Thursday afternoon. Fire crews from neighboring towns, including Brattleboro, Swanzey, Walpole, and Jaffrey, provided support during the response, alongside Cheshire County EMS personnel.
