Authorities revealed that the driver was unable to escape the wreckage due to a lower-body injury, while the young passenger had successfully exited the car.
In Winchester, New Hampshire, an incident on Saturday morning resulted in significant injuries to a 43-year-old man from Keene and an 11-year-old boy, following a fast-paced vehicle crash on Route 119. Reports to the local police indicated that around 11:50 a.m., witnesses observed a white Chrysler PT Cruiser driving erratically and speeding westward, overtaking other vehicles near the Ashuelot Covered Bridge.
The situation escalated when the Chrysler left the road, colliding with multiple cars before veering down an embankment near a work shed operated by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, approaching the town line with Hinsdale. Upon reaching the scene, emergency responders discovered the vehicle approximately 30 feet down the slope, where it was emitting smoke.
Authorities revealed that the driver was conscious but unable to escape the wreckage due to a lower-body injury, while the young passenger had successfully exited the car. Emergency teams from Winchester Fire Rescue, EMS, and the police rushed to assist, with additional support from Hinsdale’s emergency services. Rescue crews managed to free the driver from the PT Cruiser despite challenging conditions, as weather prevented UMass Life Flight from responding.
The adult was then taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, while the minor was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for care. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, being led by the Winchester Police Department alongside other related agencies.
