Authorities have named the pedestrian who lost her life in a Tuesday morning incident involving a garbage truck as 78-year-old Pamela Savard from Keene. The accident took place around 11:09 a.m. at 333 Winchester Street, specifically in the Chipotle parking lot, where Savard sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a recycling truck.
The vehicle involved in the tragedy was operated by Agri-Cycle Energy from South Portland, Maine. The driver, 58-year-old Robert Armstrong from North Hartland, Vermont, was in the process of reversing into the lot when the accident occurred. Reports indicate that Savard was positioned behind the truck at that moment.
Following the incident, portions of Ivy Drive and the parking lot were closed for roughly three and a half hours to facilitate investigation and evidence collection. Law enforcement officials, including members from the Keene Police Department’s Collision Analysis Team, as well as firefighters and state troopers, were present at the scene to determine the factors leading to this unfortunate event. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who possesses pertinent information to reach out to Detective Andrew Lippincott at the Keene Police Department.
This collision, highlighted in earlier reports as a serious accident between a pedestrian and a commercial vehicle, marks a significant event for the local community.
