City officials are urging the public to stay alert near active construction areas.
Drivers moving through Keene should expect a series of short-term disruptions this week as several city infrastructure projects advance in different neighborhoods, according to the Public Works Department.
Among the largest impacts will be at George Street Bridge, where New England Infrastructure Inc. is due to start placing precast concrete sections on Monday, Oct. 19. George Street will stay closed while the bridge work continues, and detours will remain in effect. The city said the contractor expects to spend about six weeks on the job before pausing for the winter.
Downtown, Casella Construction is continuing water and sewer utility work at Central Square beginning Monday, Oct. 19. That project may require temporary closures or shifts in parking spaces and parts of the roadway. Traffic and parking should return to normal at the end of each workday, though adjustments and detours may be needed during the day.
On Marlboro Street, final paving is set to begin Tuesday, Oct. 20, as part of the street reconstruction project. Bazin Brothers Trucking will handle the work, and on-street parking will not be allowed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the week. Traffic will alternate between one-way directions as crews move through the area, with normal conditions expected to resume each evening. The schedule depends on weather.
Other projects are also moving ahead elsewhere in the city. At Eastern Avenue and the THT Trailhead, Gordon’s Property Services and Maintenance will carry out final hydroseeding and cleanup starting Monday, with completion expected by the end of the week.
At Robin Hood Park, rehabilitation work at the pool is planned to begin Wednesday, Oct. 21, weather permitting. Weston & Sampson CMR will bring equipment to the site and start demolishing the existing concrete pool deck.
City officials are urging the public to stay alert near active construction areas, obey traffic-control devices and detour signs, and give crews room to work.
