The cause and timing of the fire are still under investigation.
Fire crews from several towns converged on 35 Pleasant Street on Sunday after a house fire broke out and spread quickly through the front of the home, according to Hinsdale Fire Chief Terry Zavorotny. When responders reached the property, flames were visible from the front and side windows. The blaze was brought under control by about 1:10 p.m. The first alarm was reported around 12:30 p.m., Fire Mutual Aid for Southwestern N.H. said. The exact time the fire began was not known Sunday. Three people escaped without injury, though Zavorotny said it was not clear whether they were inside when the fire started. Three pets died in the fire. The fire appeared to begin in the living room at the front of the house. The cause had not been determined Sunday afternoon, and officials had not yet estimated the full extent of the damage. Fire departments from Hinsdale, Northfield, Winchester, Brattleboro and Keene all responded to the scene.
