Sentencing to follow guilty plea in Brattleboro sex offense case

The case centers on sex offenses tied to conduct in 2023 and a separate probation violation.

A sentencing hearing will be set in the next 60 to 75 days for Cameron Morin, 29, of Brattleboro, after he entered guilty pleas in Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division, last week.

Judge John Treadwell approved a plea agreement that calls for Morin to serve one to three years in prison. The case centers on sex offenses tied to conduct in 2023 and a separate probation violation.

According to court proceedings, Morin admitted that he failed to complete a sex offender treatment program connected to a 2019 case. He was removed from that program after telling his probation officer that he had engaged in sexual intercourse and did not stop after consent was withdrawn during the encounter.

The 2023 allegations involved an attempt to compel a 17-year-old he was dating to perform oral sex.

Morin’s legal troubles date back to January 2019, when he was working as a corrections officer at Southern State Correctional Facility. At that time, he was accused of lewd and lascivious conduct, sexual exploitation of an inmate and bringing tobacco into the facility. He later pleaded guilty in November 2019 to the lewd and lascivious conduct charge and no contest to the sexual exploitation charge.
