New York expands where licensed marijuana businesses can sell

The change is intended to give smaller cannabis operators more ways to reach customers and compete in the legal market.

A new state law signed Thursday by Gov. Kathy Hochul will let licensed marijuana businesses set up sales at approved pop-up locations, farmers markets, and public market events.

The change is intended to give smaller cannabis operators more ways to reach customers and compete in the legal market. Hochul said the measure is meant to help microbusinesses and dispensaries build a stronger foothold in New York while increasing access to regulated products and supporting a growing industry.

According to the state’s Office of Cannabis Management, the law opens additional opportunities for small businesses to present their products at events across the state. The agency’s leader said the policy is designed to promote a more fair and inclusive environment for microbusinesses working in New York’s craft cannabis sector.
