The town’s recreation department is moving ahead with a leadership change after Bethany Marx said she was unexpectedly dismissed from her job this week.
Marx had served as program director since late June 2025. In a message posted Tuesday in a Hinsdale community Facebook group, she said she was informed that morning by Town Administrator Kathryn Lynch that she and the selectboard had chosen to end her employment. Marx also said the decision came without advance notice and that she was not given a clear explanation.
Lynch confirmed on Wednesday that Marx was no longer employed by the town, but did not discuss the circumstances behind the decision.
According to Lynch, Assistant Director Kristie Dube will take over Marx’s responsibilities while the town recruits a new director. The position is already being advertised.
The recreation director oversees the Millstream Community Center, rentals at Heritage Park, the municipal pool and other recreation-related services, Lynch said.
Selectboard Chair Steve Diorio did not respond to requests for comment on Wednesday or Thursday.
