Police probe follows roadside incident involving Claremont mayor

Officials have shared only limited information about the circumstances.

State police are now handling an inquiry connected to Claremont Mayor Dale Girard, his wife and at least one other person after a roadside incident in the city.

Claremont police first became involved after a report came in on Oct. 7, but officials have shared only limited information about the circumstances. Because of a potential conflict of interest, the case was later transferred to state police.

Girard also serves as a state representative.
