Malloy, a West Point graduate, has a background in military service and later worked for defense contractors. He relocated to Vermont in 2020 and previously ran for Senate two years ago without success.
Balint, in a statement, said she intends to make the general election campaign focus on costs, including housing, health care, and groceries, while also defending Social Security, Medicare, and democratic rights.
