Keene Voter Registration Closes Thursday Before Nov. 3 Election

Voters who miss the Thursday deadline can still register at their polling place on Election Day.

Keene residents who have not yet signed up to vote in the Nov. 3 state general election must do so by Thursday, Oct. 22 if they want to register through the city’s regular process.

People can still take care of registration in person at the City Clerk’s Office at 3 Washington St., where weekday hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office closes from 11:30 a.m. to noon on Thursdays. Another chance will be available the same evening when the Keene Supervisors of the Checklist meet at City Hall from 7 to 7:30 p.m. to process last-minute registrations.

Anyone registering will need documents proving identity, age, U.S. citizenship and domicile. State law no longer allows an affidavit to stand in for those required records, and the exact paperwork needed depends on each applicant’s situation.

Voters who miss the Thursday deadline can still register at their polling place on Election Day, according to the city.

On Nov. 3, polling locations in Keene will operate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at these sites:

Ward 1: Michael E.J. Blastos Community Room, 400 Marlboro St.

Ward 2: Keene Parks and Recreation Department, 312 Washington St.

Ward 3: Keene Middle School, 167 Maple Ave.

Ward 4: Symonds School, 79 Park Ave.

Ward 5: Monadnock Covenant Church, 90 Base Hill Road.

Residents in other Cheshire County towns should confirm their assigned polling place and election-day instructions through their local town clerk or municipal website.

Keene is also seeking 30 volunteers to serve as election day greeters. The volunteers will help direct voters to the correct line for registration or check-in, and no experience is needed. Shifts are available from 8 to 11 a.m., 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2 to 5 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Interested residents can reach the City Clerk’s Office or submit a volunteer form on the city website.

Additional information is available at KeeneNH.gov, or by calling the City Clerk’s Office at 603-352-0133, extension 2.
