The Nissan then struck the Subaru Legacy in the intersection as it was making a left turn from Route 12 onto Route 101 heading east.
Police closed the intersection of Routes 9, 12 and 101 in Keene for about an hour Saturday after a collision that left one driver with suspected serious injuries. Investigators said the scene was cleared by 10:40 a.m.
David Parenteau, 68, of Gilsum was flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after the crash. As of Monday morning, he was still receiving care there, according to a hospital representative. Keene police Lt. Benjamin Nugent said the full extent of Parenteau’s injuries was not immediately known.
The crash happened a little before 9:30 a.m. when Daniel Ackley of Valier, Mont., was driving west on Route 9 in a Nissan Rogue pulling a trailer and went through a red light, Nugent said. The Nissan then struck Parenteau’s Subaru Legacy in the intersection as Parenteau was making a left turn from Route 12 onto Route 101 heading east.
Ackley was hurt but had only minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital, Nugent said. Neither vehicle carried passengers.
Nugent said the Nissan had major front-end damage, while the Subaru was badly damaged on the driver side. He said he did not know whether either vehicle was considered a total loss.
