The store will carry a mix of items aimed at children and hobbyists, including science kits, arts and crafts supplies, toy cars and trains, wooden puzzles and board games.
Keene will get a new place for toys and games this weekend when Toy World opens Saturday at 460 West St., according to owner Justin Wescott.
The store will carry a mix of items aimed at children and hobbyists, including science kits, arts and crafts supplies, toy cars and trains, wooden puzzles and board games. Wescott said the shop will also stock harder-to-find merchandise such as Douglas Cuddle Toy stuffed animals, Warhammer 40,000 minifigure game products and original Monopoly game boards.
Wescott is no stranger to the local toy business. He previously worked at Toy City, the Key Road shop that shut down in January after nearly 50 years in operation. He said he wants Toy World to help revive the toy market in the Monadnock Region and continue the legacy left by his former employer.
He said he had long hoped to open his own store in Keene, but had expected to wait until his former boss, Steve Levy, left the business. When Levy stepped away earlier than anticipated, Wescott decided to move ahead sooner than planned.
