Two EF-1 Tornadoes Confirmed in Vermont Following Severe Storms

One of the tornadoes touched down in Lincoln, while the other affected Woodstock.

According to the National Weather Service, two tornadoes occurred in Vermont during the severe storms that impacted the region on June 18, 2026. The confirmation was announced on Friday afternoon.

One of the tornadoes touched down in Lincoln, while the other affected Woodstock. Both were classified as EF-1, with maximum wind speeds reaching 105 mph in Lincoln and 100 mph in Woodstock. The National Weather Service has yet to provide specific details regarding the tornadoes' start and end points, as well as their maximum widths, but this information is expected to be available soon.

In Woodstock, reports highlighted significant damage, including numerous trees that were snapped and stripped, a consequence of the high winds. Areas near Echo Ledge Road experienced extensive destruction, resulting in a debris field.

Prior to the tornado occurrences, First Alert Chief Meteorologist Jess Langlois had interrupted regular broadcasting to inform viewers about the severe weather, suggesting the possibility of an embedded tornado. This update was given around 1:30 p.m. before the Lincoln tornado, and another update was provided at approximately 2:20 p.m., shortly before the Woodstock tornado struck.

For ongoing updates on this situation, residents are encouraged to follow the WCAX First Alert Weather Team. They should also consider downloading the WCAX First Alert Weather App, which provides notifications about weather alerts and allows access to live broadcasts during inclement weather, even in power outages.
