Vermont State Police confirm that several women have recently come forward with new allegations.
Windsor County Sheriff Ryan Palmer, currently embroiled in a series of sexual misconduct allegations, is set to face additional charges as more victims emerge. He has pleaded not guilty to multiple offenses filed against him earlier this year, which include accusations of engaging in lewd and lascivious conduct, soliciting prostitution, and aggravated stalking with a deadly weapon, among others.
The latest developments stem from an ongoing investigation by Vermont State Police, who confirmed that several women have recently come forward with new allegations. The sheriff, 39, is now looking at five new charges. These include additional counts related to lewd conduct and solicitation of prostitution due to claims that he paid women for sexual acts and sent unsolicited explicit materials to others.
Palmer is expected to address these new allegations during his upcoming court appearance. The jurisdiction handling the cases is the Bennington County State’s Attorney’s Office, which has received new evidence in the form of an affidavit from state police detectives in support of the fresh charges.
Despite the seriousness of these allegations, Palmer has refused to resign from his sheriff position, although his law enforcement certification has been suspended by the Vermont Criminal Justice Council. He has temporarily stepped back from his day-to-day responsibilities, appointing another individual to manage operations within the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department.
The investigation remains active, and authorities are encouraging anyone with further information to reach out to the Vermont State Police.
